Electroplater
|
| Since alpha
particles are easily absorbed, alpha spectrometry relies upon ultra-thin
sample depositions for optimum resolution. The Electroplater
enables a thin, evenly deposited mono-layer to be consistently plated
upon a stainless steel, or platinum, planchet. High resolution allows
separation of the alpha energy peaks and better isotope identification.

Simple
Apparatus Construction
Disposable
electrodeposition cells are constructed from 20 mL polyethylene liquid
scintillation vials with the bottom removed. A 0.75 inch diameter
polished stainless steel planchet is inserted in the cap with the
polished side facing inside the vial. The caps have a 5/8
inch diameter hole drilled in them to allow contact with the ground tab
of the electroplater. |

|
| Electroplaters
are offered in 4, 6, 8 and 12 station configurations and include a 50/60
Hz, 100/125 volt ac power supply which provides regulated dc current for the
plating operation. Also available with a 50/60 Hz, 220/240 volt ac power
supply with a universal line cord socket on special order.
(Note: for customers
outside the USA, the electroplater is available WITHOUT power supply so
you may obtain a 12 to 15 volt DC power supply @ 15/25 A that will work
with your local electrical power) |
