| There is a growing
interest and concern for monitoring depleted uranium in the environment.
Depleted uranium, or 238U, is used in armor-piercing shells.
Peacekeeping efforts around the world have left behind depleted uranium
-- as a reminder of the troop's presence. Some studies indicate it may
negatively affect human health if ingested or inhaled, as in the water
